A joint event with Brecon Beacons Park Society. Join Dilys Harlow and Andrew Leonard as they lead the first part of the Monks Trod linear route from Strata Florida to Pont-ar-Elan. This 11.8 mile walk will take you along minor roads, tracks and rough paths, following a route used by the Cistercians across the Elenydd. £5 donation. Booking is essential due to minibus to start. Local historians David James and Vic Pardoe will lead this 5.5 mile scenic walk into the highlands of the Elan Valley, visiting Esgair Perfedd Roman Marching Camp, Cairns, Cists and Stone Rows. Please bring a packed lunch and drinks. Dogs are welcome but please ensure they are kept on leads due to livestock present on the hills. Meet at the old wash pool SN 932697.

Walk starting below Builth Quarry and crossing open terrain below Carneddau with superb views on a clear day.
People joining walks do so at their own risk. It is suggested walkers wear footwear and clothing appropriate to the terrain. All walks, except when stated differently meet at the Rhayader Leisure Centre Car Park in Dark Lane at least 5 minutes before the starting time. Dogs must be kept under close control at all times.

Dam Open Day

Join our Rangers at one of our Dam Open Days - a chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam & up to the central tower.

Park at Penbont car park & take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance. There is no need to book, simply turn up anytime between 1pm and 4pm.

There are steps inside the dam which may be wet & in some areas there are low light levels. Children should be carefully supervised at all times.

Entry is £5 for adults & £1 for those aged 16 and under with half of all proceeds going to our chosen charity - WaterAid. We can only take cash payments, no cards.
