Join our Rangers at our Dam Open Day - an exclusive chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and up to the central tower. Open between 1pm and 4pm.
Park at Penbont car park & take a walk through the woodland, up the steps to the dam entrance. There are steps inside the dam which may be wet & in some areas there are low light levels.
Children must be carefully supervised at all times. Dogs welcome on short leads.
Entry is £5 for adults & £1 for those aged 16 and under, with half of all proceeds going to WaterAid.

People joining walks do so at their own risk, with no responsibility being attached to any other individual or the group as a whole. It is suggested that walkers carry food and drink and wear footwear and clothing appropriate to the terrain and the season. Leaders reserve the right to exclude walkers they do not judge capable of safely completing the walk from joining the group for whatever reason.
For all walks, except where stated differently, please meet at the Leisure Centre Car Park at least 5 minutes before the starting time. Dogs must be kept under close control at all times.

Local farmer and County Mammal Recorder Sorcha Lewis will take you up the hills of the Elan Valley to see the sun set over the beautiful landscape. Watch the stars emerge and learn about local wildlife as you walk over to Tynllidiart Hill to learn about the work of the Elan Valley Dark Sky Park. As this is a moderately strenuous walk across upland terrain, please wear your walking boots, bring warm clothing, a hot drink, food and a torch.

The Gilfach area of Mid Wales is known for its stunning, dark skies with an International Dark Sky Park nearby. Listen to night noises and gaze at the stars if it is clear. We will be looking at moths and detecting bats with our specialised detectors. A short walk on easy terrain will be around 1 mile long. Please bring torches, a mat to sit on, insect repellent and wear outdoor clothing and footwear. Ticket cost: £5. Meet at the Pont Marteg Gateway, Gilfach Nature Reserve SN 952715.
