Rhayader Walkers - Sunday Walks

22nd June - Scenic walk around Llandre

6th July - Aberedw, Twm Tobaccos grave, Cradle Rocks and other rock features

20th July - Walk in area of Hafod Estate

3rd August - Circular walk from Llandewi

17th August - Walk in area around Knighton

31st August - Circular walk from llandloes, Glyndwr's Way& Bryntail mines

14th Sept - Circular walk from Llangurig via Marsh's Pool

28th Sept - Circular walk from Llangurig - Wye Valley

12th Oct - Circular walk from Kerry

26th Oct - Walk in area of Prestigne

A programme of walks on Sunday mornings, arranged by an informal walking group. There are no fees or membership requirements. People joining walks do so at their own risk, with no responsibility being attached to any other individual or the group as a whole. It is suggested that walkers carry food and drink and wear footwear and clothing appropriate to the terrain and the season. Leaders reserve the right to exclude walkers they do not judge capable of safely completing the walk from joining the group for whatever reason. For all walks, except where stated differently, please meet at the Leisure Centre Car Park at least 5 minutes before the starting time. Dogs must be kept under close control at all times. Routes alter if weather general conditions are inclement or for any other reason at the leader’s discretion. For queries concerning individual walks, please contact the walk leader. 5th Aug - Circular walk starting at Llandrindod Wells Lake

12th August - Walk in the area of Glyn Bridge and the confluence of Wye and Elan rivers

19th Aug - Walk to Rhydoldog via y Gurn

26th Aug - Circular walk starting from Bwlch y gle car park

2nd Sept - Walk in the area of Camlo Hill

9th Sept - Walk in Elan Valley starting from Elan Bridge

16th Sept - Walk in area of Marteg Bridge

23rd Sept - Walk in area of Llanyre

30th Sept - Local walk in Rhayader Town followed by end of season dinner.

Dam Open Days

  • Don’t miss an exclusive chance to venture into Pen y Garreg Dam and up the central tower. One of our rangers will be on hand to answer all your questions so don’t be shy…
  • These short self-guided tours are a perfect addition to your day’s itinerary at Elan Valley. Walk through the dam at your own pace, before emerging onto the central platform where you’ll enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the dam wall – and learn about the feat of engineering that made Elan. Booking ahead recommended, either online or from the Visitor Centre shop. Please bring the receipt from the shop if you buy on the day. We can take walk-ins at the dam but you must have the correct change for your party. £5.00 per adult, £1 per Under-18 (half the proceeds go to WaterAid)

Guided Bike Tour

Enjoy a breath-taking guided mountain bike adventure ride through the heart of the Elan Valley…

Quiet village lanes lead to bridleways above Caban Coch Reservoir, offering stunning views of the Claerwen and Elan valleys. The route continues along a grassy ridge, across moorland and streams with a steep climb followed a long and technical descent with an optional finish on the Elan Valley downhill track. This tour is aimed at mountain bike riders with some experience and a good level of fitness, who want a proper adventure. Your guide is on hand to offer advice if you are looking to enhance your knowledge, skills and techniques.

Guided Bike Ride & Dam Tour
