Rhayader, Mid Wales

Following the Flame

Launching on February 11, Following the Flame will be a major new touring exhibition which explores and celebrates the inspiring history of Welsh sporting achievement.
Based on the words, images and experiences of some of Wales’ greatest Olympians and Paralympians, Following the Flame will arrive at Rhayader Museum and Gallery to kick-start the Olympic build-up for 2012.
Having gained renown last year for the nationally significant exhibition, A Glimmer in the Earth, which brought home local treasure hoards for the first tune since their discovery, Rhayader Museum and Gallery is now proud to announce its partnership with this major Cultural Olympiad project for Wales A spokesperson said: “At just one two-thousandth of the total world population, Wales’ record of achievement in both Olympic and Paralympic Games is hugely out of proportion to our seemingly insignificant place within the world. It’s not just in boxing that Wales punches well above its weight!”
To find out more about Wales’ great Olympic and Paralymic heritage, visit Fol-lowing the Flame until March 9.
An action-packed launch day begins the exhibition on February 11, with activities and talks between 11am and 2pm and opening hours from 10am until 4pm.
